Weight loss can be mentally and physically challenging. That being said, here are five tips to help you lose weight and stay motivated!
- Reduce Calories
If you want to lose weight, it’s important to learn how weight loss generally occurs. Basically, one pound of fat equals 3,500 calories. So if you wanted to lose one pound in a week, you would need to reduce 500 calories from your meals per day. You would be surprised how easy cutting 500 calories from your diet is.
- Eat a Fiber Rich Breakfast
Fiber is an important nutrient because it promotes a healthy digestive system and keeps you full for longer. Most people struggle with dieting because they feel hungry more often. But eating a fiber rich breakfast will prevent any hunger pains and give you enough energy to start your day right!
- Don’t Drink Your Calories
Before starting your weight loss journey, track everything you regularly eat and drink in a day. While how many overall calories you consume will most likely surprise you, the real surprise will be how many calories you consume in what you drink. Everything from soda to juice, smoothies, coffee, and even alcohol contributes to a high calorie intake. Instead of drinking your calories, stick to no calorie drinks, like water.
- Never Skip a Workout
Unless you are in critical condition or there is an emergency, there is no excuse why you should skip a workout. That means that “being tired” is not a valid excuse. Instead of procrastinating or being lazy, force yourself to go to the gym or work out around your neighborhood.
- Use Blue Utensils
Did you know that yellow and red induce hunger? That’s why many fast food places use yellow and red as their main colors. On the other end of the spectrum, blue suppresses appetites. So if you want to limit the amount of food you eat, trick your mind by using blue plates, napkins, and even forks and knives.
